PLANETS IN ASTROLOGICAL SENSE
In Astrology, the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu are regarded as the "Nine Planets". Scientifically speaking, the Sun is a Star, the Moon is a Satellite of Earth and Rahu and Ketu are the two points of intersection of the Lunar Orbit and Ecliptic called the" Nodes" which have no physical existence at all. Yet, the ancient Seers known as "Rishis" who formulated and developed the Indian astrology regarded the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu as the "Nine Planets".
The "Rishis"Ancient Seers observed radiations from these planets reaching the earth and influencing the living things and terrestrial affairs on earth and therefore, needed no more planets. The recently discovered Planets viz. Uranus in the year 1781,Neptune in the year 1846 and Pluto in the year 1930 therefore did not find a place in Vedic Astrology.
