KINDS OF DESTINY
There are two types of destiny.(1)Changeable destiny and (2)Non-Changeable destiny
Changeable Destiny (Karmas)
Destiny (Karmas) that can be modified or altered or rectified require considerable efforts through the application of creative will. A chronic disease can be rectified through surgery or through some corrective measures and so on.
Non-Changeable Destiny (Karmas)
We notice many times in life that in spite of taking preventive measures to avoid the happening of a particular event, it simply 'happens'. They are destined to be experienced. There are no remedies. The only option available is to patiently endure the effects of the same or one has to be satisfied with what he has to undergo the sufferings in this birth.
Example Story from KRIBANANDA VARIAR SWAMIGAL
There was a rich man in a village. He lived in a big house. A sage was passing by the side of the house. He saw a large crowd in his house. On enquiry, he was told that a male baby was born to his wife and so the rich man was celebrating the event by donating money and gifts to poor people. The sage was watching the crowd. He could visualize a man going inside the house. He caught hold of him and asked who he is. The man told him that he is Lord Brahma's (the Creator of Universe) messenger and he has come here to mark the destiny of the newborn child. So saying, he went inside. The sage again caught him when he returned and asked for what he marked for the child. The messenger replied that he was not supposed to reveal the same. But sage did not give way for the messenger. And the messenger at last gave a hint that "this boy will earn his daily bread through a single Ox"Then, the sage let him go out. After 30 years, the sage came to the same street but could not locate the house of that rich man. Therefore,he made enquiries and at last found the rich man's son now a well grown man, in the suburbs of paddy fields. There he saw the man living a poor life along with his wife and children by means of a single Ox. The sage requested him to sell the ox and spend the sale proceeds for his family. The poor man hesitated. The sage once again requested him to do so assuring him to reimburse the loss if any. Therefore, the poor man sold the ox. In the midnight somebody came with a new ox and tied it in a tree. The sage once again asked him to dispose the ox. The poor man sold the ox. In the midnight, a new ox was tied in a tree. This was going on for some days. The Creator, Lord Brahma saw what was going wrong and then rectified the flaw. The next day, the poor man declined to sell the ox saying that the existing ox is very good and is enough for them. Now the sage understood that the only option available is to patiently endure the effects of the destiny or one has to be satisfied with what he has to undergo the sufferings in this birth and went away.
Whether the non-changeable Destiny (karmas)
Be altered or modified or rectified?
When the intensity of the non-changeable Karmas is severe and intolerable, the man appeals to the Creator of this universe, the Almighty, for acquittal or to reduce or to neutralize such negative effects. The Creator of this universe i.e. the Almighty is the absolute and ultimate authority to decide the fate of karma when the appeal is fervent, emotional, sensitive, deserving and repenting, the Almighty sympathetically considers the same.
In the contemporary world, in India, when a person is convicted in a trial court and when the conviction is upheld in subsequent higher courts including the Supreme Court, as a last resort, he can file a mercy petition before the President of India. The disposal of this mercy petition is purely a discretion and privilege of the President of India. He applies his judicial mind independently with reference to the facts of the case and either grants mercy by modifying or altering or rectifying the negative effects of the Karmas or by acquitting him from such ill effects or otherwise, He may also decline mercy. So also the
Divine Grace by its unique privilege, power and discretion can alter or modify or rectify any Destiny (Karma) whether changeable or non-changeable.
