Rules for
MATRIMONIAL VIABILITY ON MATCH -MAKING
(1) Pulse (Naadi)
Nadi means 'Pulse'. Planets, which occupy by a nakshatra, have their nature influenced by that nakshatras' pulse, which is its Ayurvedic Constitution. If the nakshatra of the girl and the nakshatra of the boy falls in the same Nadi, then there is no Compatibility.
(2) Blemish of Mars (Kuja Dosha)
When Mars occupies the houses 1,2,4,7,8,12 kuja dosha occurs in a horoscope. it is counted from (i) Lagna (ascendant ) (ii) Moon and (iii) Venus. When Mars recurs in all these three positions, it is virulent.
Mangala is a name for Mars.Kuja dosha does not promote marital harmony and indicates marital misery. Exceptions to Kuja Dosha are:
1. Any one who has Kuja Dosha can safely marry anyone else who also has a Kuja dosha of approximately equal strength. The two combinations will cancel each other out.
2. Mars reaches maturity at the age of 30 years. Therefore, anyone who has a Kuja Dosha will be acquitted or relieved from the Kuja Dosha on reaching the age of 30 years.
3. Mars in its own or exaltation constellation cancels the dosha or greatly modifies the Dosha position.
4. The presence of Moon in the house Mars occupies, cancels Kuja Dosha.
(3) IDENTITY OF MINDS (Ascendant or Lagna)
Lagna indicates the insight into the mind of a person, the lines of thinking and the way of approaching. Therefore, the Lagna of the boy and that of the girl should be in Kona (1-5-9) or in Kendra (1-4-7-10) places to each other. When the Lagna of the boy and that of the girl happens to be in the 7th position to each other, the compatibility is excellent and there cannot be any difference of opinion between the two and the thinking of the two sail together
So, when the Lagans of the boy and that of the girl are in 3-6-8-12 places to each other or more particularly, if they are in 6-8 places to each other, the boy and the girl do not possess identitical minds or thinking. Unless other factors favorably and strongly recommend the proposition of marriage, the 6-8 position of the Lagna would not reconcile.
(4) Rulership Period of the Planets (Dasha)
Dasha indicates the rulership period of the Planets, which dictates by turns, in an established order. The events in the course of the life of a person are determined by the period of rule of Planets. The events in a man's life is scheduled and sequenced in a period of time. So, one has to find out whether the current period of rule of a planet pave the way for a concrete future towards the marriage proposal and whether the periods of rule of the succeeding planets in future are reconciled to the advantage of the couple. If the boy's horoscope indicated good dasha throughout his life and if the girl's horoscope indicated bad dasha,the fortunes of the boy are blocked or slowed down.i.e.When a cart is pulled by two bullocks, both the bullocks should go in the same direction for a smooth and safe travel. If one of them is lame or slow or unhealthy or pull in a different direction or does not cooperate, the match is not perfect.
(5) Issue(Putra Bagya)
It is natural that the couple has to give birth to child or children for inheritance and to be taken care of in the later stages in life. A Child act as a hinge between the mother and the father and binds them together in any eventuality. The placement of the planets in the 5th place, the ruler of the 5th place, the natural significator Jupiter and other planetary aspects see this aspect. If a malefic planet influences the 5th place, particularly, the blessing of children, in both the natal horoscopes of the boy and the girl, then the compatibility is very carefully arrived at. If a misfortune is foreseen and if there is no possibility of a remedy or relief, there is no compatibility at all.
(6)Tree Sastra
The Nakshatras possess Characteristic features of Trees. Trees of a similar type will have greater compatibility than those which are radically dissimilar and which are naturally inimical to each other. This compatibility is based on the theory of evolution.
(7)Birds Sastra
The nakshatras possess habits of Birds. Birds of a similar type will have greater compatibility than those which are radically dissimilar and which are naturally inimical to each other. This compatibility is based on the theory of evolution.
(8)Blemish on Spouse (Kalathira Dosha)
The seventh house Lord when sits in the house of the Lagna and aspects its own house, Kalathira dosha emerges. This means, the owner of the horoscope has two spouses. If there was one side love or love failure or last minute cancellation of the marriage, then this may be taken as the cancellation of this dosha. Or otherwise, this dosha bestows death of spouse or divorce or separation, etc. This has to be reconciled with an appropriate horoscope in matching. The horoscope of late Indian prime Minister Smt.Indira Gandhi and the horoscope of the current president of Indian national Congress Smt.Sonia Gandhi are good examples.
(9) The serpent of time (Kala Sarpa Yoga)
When all the seven planets from the Sun through Saturn are situated in between Rahu and Ketu,it is called 'Kala Sarpa Yoga'.i.e. the serpent of time This creates difficulties on (1) the house ruled by any planet which is conjoined by either Rahu or ketu (2) the houses ruled by one or both of the dispositors of Rahu and ketu and (3) the houses Rahu and ketu occupy. The owner of this Horoscope is being subjected to poverty, misery and pitiful life till the attainment of the age of 30-33 years. Even thereafter certain position of Rahu-Ketu land the owner in troubles. Therefore,this aspect has to be carefully attended to.
(10) Malefic Effects (Bhava) of Planets :

(1)Jupiter (2) Venus(3) Mercury when associated with the Natural Benefic and (4) Moon when waxing.i.e.when moving from New Moon to Full Moon
Natural Malefics :
(1)Saturn (2)Mars (3)Sun (4) Rahu (5) Ketu (6) Mercury when associated with the Natural Malefic and (7) Moon when waning i.e.when moving from Full Moon to New Moon

STEP :
1. Add the points according to the above table,for both the Bride and the Groom.
2. Divide the sum total by 16.
If there is no remainder or if the remainders to both the Bride and the Groom are equal, then the Compatibility of Malefic effects are excellent.
If the difference between the remainders to both the Bride and the Groom are less than 1, then the Compatibility is Medium/Average.
If the difference between the remainders to both the Bride and the Groom are more than 1, then there is no Compatibility at all.
